hi, i'm trying to build gt for the first time on a 64bit system so
this is likely somethign i've just
done wrong but cant figure it out. with 'make', i see the error below.
why would it skip the libcairo i have installed? does it require a
particular version?
this is the cairo version for the package called libcairo2-dev:
Version: 1.8.6-1ubuntu2
$ make
[link libgenometools.so]
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.3.3/../../../libcairo.so when
searching for -lcairo
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible
/usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-linux-gnu/4.3.3/../../../libcairo.a when searching
for -lcairo
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/libcairo.so when searching
for -lcairo
/usr/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib/libcairo.a when searching
for -lcairo
/usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lcairo
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make: *** [lib/libgenometools.so] Error 1
